Proyecto: 32 Hostings Virtuales
Categoría: eBusiness/eLearning

|
Sistemas tipo User Mode Linux ó VMware GSX Server: http://honeynet.frapes.org/papers/virtual/

Propuesta:
> I suppose a PIV at 2 Ghz could support the load ... 3 or 4 users compiling and working while the rest of the machines is idling on lamp is ok on a PIV 2000, you're right... Lowest budget: Pentium IV 2000 Mhz 2x 40GB IDE 7.2krpm 1 GB RAM 32 Users @ 64 MB and 2000 MB HDD each 64 GB Traffic This will work, but only if the users working simultaneously will be kept below 5 or so. If there's less physical ram than the ram allocated to the virtual servers, the machine will swap like a devil. Don't expect too much. Monthly fee would be 448 Euro (640 Euro) (total of 5376 Euro per year). --- Pentium IV 2400 Mhz 2x 80 GB IDE 7.2 krpm 3ware RAID 1 2 GB RAM 32 Users @ 64 MB RAM and 2000 MB HDD each 64 GB Traffic This is the 'most bang for the bug' machine. Enough ram, stable running, a minimum of '600Mhz' per User at 4 Users sim. A RAID 1 controller which keeps the I/O problems from the cpu. This will work fine, even with the other users' lamps running busy... Monthly fee would be 559 Euro (640 Euro) (total of 6708 Euro per year). --- Dual Pentium III 1266 Mhz 2x 80 GB IDE 7.2 krpm 3ware RAID 1 4 GB ECC RAM 32 Users @ 128 MB RAM and 2000 MB HDD each 64 GB Traffic It's a Dual Pentium III because there's no board running in a 1HE Server which is capable of using a PIV with 4 GB of RAM. This is the top level server for this usage. The dual will balance all compile loads, the 3ware RAID will balance the I/O and the ECC RAM is ideal for this purpose. Monthly fee would be 738 Euro (960 Euro) (total of 8856 Euro per year) -- The monthly/yearly fees are 'all inclusive' - this means, there's no installation fee, no update fee. You've got full email support and a 24h reboot service. Additional Traffic will cost 1.5 Euro / GB if ordered in advance, 2.5 E/GB if 'additional'. Please allow 1-2 weeks for a test account with redhat 6.2 for you on a 'standard' machine, if you wish - plus 1-2 weeks afterwards for acquiring the equipment and setting up the machine(s) for you. Regards, Peter :)
